THANATOLOGY INTERACTION BLANKET

One Week Small Project

This design creates an interactive musical bedsheet which aims to transfer the end of life atmosphere into a comforting, healing space with loved ones. Based on the potential barrier in users behaviour and communication, every hug, handhold, or touch from a loved one can trigger a melody, vacillating interaction and lessening feelings of loneliness and fostering connection. Through creating music together it brings joy to the family and will be recorded by the blanket leaving precious memories with the family.

From Cholbi’s experience of assisted dying in general the strongest finding is that people are very attracted to dying in their home, since the dying process nowadays is already one that can feel detached or isolated from the rest of their life and people die predominantly or have been subjected to a lot of medical treatments so there is a certain point they want to get back to their lives, even if it’s just for the final moments of their life. Professor suggested "People facing death would not want their

Our aim is: to make the last Moment of life less Sad and, instead a dying stage surrounded by family members, crying and sadness, I aim to help patients experience a more comfortable, joyful and enjoyable life experience in the dying stage.
